Scam emails, weak passwords, missed updates and unprotected PCs are how most small businesses get caught out. We put sensible protection in place and keep it working, so your data stays safe and the criminals stay out.
What we look after
Virus and malware protection
Protection on every PC and server, checked daily so nothing quietly stops working.
Spam and scam filtering
Filtering that stops most junk and scam email before it reaches your team.
Firewall configuration
A firewall set up for your office, with its logs reviewed rather than ignored.
Passwords and sign-in
Strong passwords, a password manager, and multi factor authentication on email and key accounts.
Updates and patching
Windows, Microsoft 365 and other software kept up to date, since most security fixes arrive this way.
Backup and recovery
Tested backups, so a successful attack is an inconvenience rather than a disaster.
What the numbers say
The UK Government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2025 found that 43% of UK businesses identified a breach or attack in the previous twelve months. Phishing, meaning scam emails and messages, was by far the most common, seen by 85% of those businesses.
In other words, the most likely attack on your business is an email that tricks someone into clicking, paying or typing a password. Good protection deals with that first.
The basics that stop most attacks
The Government-backed Cyber Essentials scheme sets out five basic controls that protect against the most common attacks:
- Firewalls
- Secure settings on computers and devices
- Control over who has access to what
- Protection against malware
- Keeping software up to date
These are the same things we put in place for our clients. If you are working towards Cyber Essentials, we can help you get the controls right.
Encryption, passwords and your backups
Encryption protects a lost laptop, but it also changes how backups and recovery need to work. We talk through the pros and cons with you before switching it on.
Passwords are still the front door to most systems. We help you move to strong, unique passwords kept in a password manager, and add a second step at sign-in wherever it matters.
How we work
- Check where you stand We look at your PCs, email, accounts, firewall and backups, and list the gaps.
- Close the obvious gaps Missing protection, old software and weak sign-in get fixed first.
- Help your team spot scams Plain guidance on what a scam email looks like, and what to do when one gets through.
- Keep watching Our monthly plans include daily antivirus and anti-malware scanning, and regular reviews of firewall and event logs.
Who this is for
- Small businesses without an in-house IT person
- Teams handling customer or patient data
- Businesses that have had a scare and want to be ready next time
- Organisations working towards Cyber Essentials
What we need from you
- A named contact who can make decisions
- Access to your admin accounts, handled securely
- A list of the systems and data you cannot work without
- A quick call to us whenever something looks wrong
Questions we are often asked
Is antivirus software enough on its own?
No. It is one layer. Most attacks start with a scam email or a stolen password, so filtering, multi factor authentication, updates and tested backups matter just as much.
Do we really need multi factor authentication?
On email and anything holding money or personal data, yes. It is the simplest way to stop a stolen password being used against you.
Someone clicked a suspicious link. What now?
Call us straight away. Do not wait to see what happens. The sooner passwords are changed and the PC is checked, the smaller the problem.
How safe is online banking on our PCs?
It is as safe as the PC and the sign-in behind it. Up-to-date software, protection against malware and a second sign-in step make a big difference.
